This design was inspired by Levi's Engineered jeans, other Y2K denim, and men's formal wear. I wanted a pair of pants that exaggerated the length of the wearer's legs, while maintaining a low rise and adding high-quality pocket details. Intricate pattern design was key. I took inspiration from vintage 501s to find the perfect rise. The dual back pockets reference vintage slacks but add to the playful aesthetic of the early 2000s and increase utility. I maintained angles on the front pockets to increase the flow of the garment. The utility of this pair was extremely important to me, so I went with the highest quality finishes possible. I chose a one-piece button fly and flat-felled seams throughout the majority of the garment. My fabric selection was intentional; I wanted a heavy denim so the piece would hold structure, and vertical slub to draw eyes up and down the jeans. After much searching, I found the perfect 100% cotton, Indigo dyed denim, which weighed in at 13 oz. The final piece surprised even me with its unmatched comfort, utility, and styling potential.
