This piece was inspired by Japanese baggy workwear, my love for Kendama, and the development of a flourishing relationship. I designed it to have extremely basic details and fabric, but with an exaggerated silhouette in order to draw attention. The most interesting feature is in the back pocket. I wanted to represent the beauty of developing a relationship and getting to know someone. I achieved this by embroidering a kendama into the back pocket in black stitching. My love for kendama is a core part of my character, but something that I might withhold from someone when I first meet them and show them as we later become closer. This idea is mapped onto the pockets; When they were first made, it was impossible to see the stitching, and it hid in the sea of black, but as the garment fades, each stitch is slowly becoming more visible. This effect has been beautiful to watch evolve, and has motivated me to wear this pair frequently. Furthermore, it has encouraged me to focus on my relationship with myself and allow vulnerability and honesty.
